As YouTube searches for the new ways to become attractive for creators (and thus for audience and advertisers), it invents and tests new features that help creators promote themselves. One of these features is the Promotions tab that is now being tested. It will be available in YouTube Creative Studio and helpful for creators who want to promote their content.
In fact, the functionality of Promotions will be similar to Google Ads. Yet creators won’t have to leave the Creative Studio for using it. At the same time, this will use the AI to make the promotion offers the most relevant. In addition, this solution is said to be much simpler than what Google Ads offers. And this is understandable, given that YouTube channels don’t need the entire variety of advertising options.
This integration can also have unexpected cumulative effects, given that the creator (or the PR manager) will see all the necessary metrics right there. Given that the content is also right in the studio, it can lead to some insights (in both senses) that can lead to changes in both the content and the promotion of your YouTube channel.
So far, the feature is only available to selected creators. It depends on their reaction and objective metrics whether YouTube will roll this feature out to everyone as it is or take some more time to refine it. Of course, the amount of bought ads will also matter to Google, as it’s all meant to promote the promotion feature.
But it seems unlikely that Google will linger with the mass introduction of it. Given the competition among video hosting services, YouTube needs to convince creators here and now that they will earn more on YouTube than, say, on TikTok or Instagram. And this Promotions tab helps to save time, and so will be appreciated.
If you run your own YouTube channel, do you purchase ads to promote it? Would you use the Promotion tab if it were already in your YouTube studio? What else can you say about it? Welcome to the comments section, speak some words there!
