Engagement is everything. Facebook is reviewing its feed-building strategy again, according to the recent leaks. If this update comes into action, your feed will become unrecognizable once more, bringing lots of content you didn’t expect to be there. But according to the Meta AI, you’re going to like it though you didn’t know.
The new approach is brought to life by the success of TikTok, caused (among all) by its feed generation principles. As you launch your TikTok feed, you first see the “For You” tab with a lot of videos by those you don’t follow but may like. To switch to the feed of only those you follow, you need to switch to another tab. Probably Facebook will do the same to raise the engagement level.
Another thing Meta is willing to implement (according to the same source) is more video-heavy content in your feed. This means promotion of both Facebook and Instagram Reels, short videos that are sure to become the biggest driver of growth for both social media projects by Meta. Now the AI will define which of them you may like. And if so, more of this content will appear in your feed. You may see a similar approach on Instagram; as it shows you a video by someone you don’t follow, the app explains what you have marked with a heart to deserve this.
This approach will turn the top of the main panel into a mix of Stories and Reels. In addition, Facebook seems to reconsider its decision to separate its main app and Messenger. With Messenger integrated, it will be easier to share a certain video to a friend who you think may like it.
What do you think about this new way of building your feed? Would you like the possibility of returning to your own bubble you’ve been building for years? Or is discovering new content with a little help from AI really fun? Tell us what you think about it in the comments if you please!
