Witcher Monster Slayer Guide for Novice Witchers

Great news for everyone who misses Geralt's world! The new game in The Witcher universe will give you a feel for a witcher’s hard life on your own skin. For a successful monster hunt, read our beginner's guide.

Basics

Before embarking on your journey through The Witcher Monster Slayer, check out the game basics:

  • Pay attention to opponents’ level. This way, you can assess the chances of success and retreat from the battlefield in time if something happens to pump your character a little.
  • Your character has two types of swords: silver and steel. The former should be used against monsters, the latter is intended for all other opponents.
  • For a successful walkthrough, don't forget about the resource collection and crafting. Potions, oils, and bombs that can be made can greatly help you win any battle.
  • During the game, always remember the real world around you. Choose safe areas and routes.

Battles

Before starting the hunt, we strongly recommend that you go through the tutorial and familiarize yourself with the interface and the main components of battles. Your character has two types of sword attacks (weak and strong), like most opponents. You can increase the damage from your hits using advanced swords and pumping skills. Throw bombs at monsters periodically to deal the damage and stun them even at a distance.

Also, before starting a fight, you should apply the appropriate oils and potions. During the battle, their use is not available. You can craft these tools from the collected materials and significantly increase the likelihood of victory even with a challenging monster. Do not forget about the witcher signs, which can stun, set fire to enemies, and protect you from external damage. They can also be upgraded so that your character spends less energy on their use and fights more efficiently.

Items

As already mentioned, the character has steel and silver swords. You can purchase upgraded models in the Shop for in-game money or receive them as rewards for completing missions. Various items have different effects: some increase your hits, others expand the sign power, and others speed up the gain of experience. Besides, the character also has base armor, which can be replaced with one of six improved ones. They can also be bought or got as a gift.

Monsters

There are ten types of monsters in the game, each of which can include several subspecies and have three levels of difficulty. The rating is based on how hard a particular opponent can hit. So before the start of a battle, you can roughly calculate whether your character will withstand their attacks or not. Try to finish the fight as soon as possible; then, you will receive experience bonuses. Be sure to use the signs to interrupt the monster's attack and conduct a counterattack.

Every day you get in-game tasks, among which there are points for killing specific monsters. Remember that Legendary ones are more likely to go outside in bad weather or at night. If you need to catch a monster of a certain class, create the corresponding bait. Note that one takes five hours to be made. When a creature is defeated, its description appears in the bestiary. Remember to read this information periodically to learn about your opponents' strengths and weaknesses and better prepare for the upcoming battle.

Craft

Collect resources that fall from monsters and get in your way to make additional items. You can craft oils, potions, bombs, and Nemeton baits. All this contributes to more effective hunting. In the game, you have alchemy stations to work with collected materials. Improved stations allow you to craft items faster, but the number of their uses is limited.
