In August 2021, PlayStation Now prepared a great set of games for its subscribers. Indie or mainstream? Role-playing or slashing? Hardly will these updates leave a gaming fan untouched.
The most famous name on the list is definitely NieR: Automata by Square Enix. This game is an absolute classic of JRPG as a genre. It’s hard to overrate the influence of the entire NieR series. NieR: Automata (2017) is a futuristic story set in the world where humans try to chase the invaders away from the Earth using android fighters. Not only does it contain a lot of action, great futuristic visuals, and sophisticated plots. It also has a powerful philosophical and moral message, offering these dilemmas to the player. This game will only be available until November 1, so hurry to play it through before that date.
Ghostrunner is another post-apocalyptic game, released in 2020. Instead of role-playing, though, it’s action-focused, with lots of enemies and weapons to slash them. On the streets of a cyberpunk city, you need to fight your way through. This game has also received mostly positive reviews, but if you don’t appreciate it at once, you can give it a second chance later. Unlike NieR: Automata, it will probably stay on PlayStation Now constantly.
Finally, Undertale is an indie masterpiece, as greatly acclaimed as the previous two titles. Developed by one person, Toby Fox, Undertale recreates the feel of the old 2D RPG, with pixeled graphics and a non-linear story. This retro-styled gem, appreciated by many, is also joining the roster for long (if not forever). At least, no expiry date has been specified.
All of these games are popular on other platforms as well. They have gained a solid reputation among gamers, so if you have somehow missed any of them, PlayStation Now gives you a great chance.
