These 6 TikTok Tips Make Videos Viral

TikTok was the fastest growing social network in 2020 and it retained the rapid growth rates in 2021. As a company owner, marketer, or influencer, you are probably already thinking about gathering your own followership on TikTok. We knew that and prepared a quick guide on how to get a head start on the platform.

1. Follow Fresh Trends

TikTok trends pop up and disappear quite quickly, but not too fast for you to catch up. You can create content based on trending sounds, memes, hashtags, and challenges. Fortunately, the platform provides you with clear insights on what’s trending so that you can simply tap the most popular sounds and trends to start shooting your clip. This method is highly effective and doesn’t require you to spend a lot of time coming up with your own potentially trendy things that can’t guarantee success.

2. Invest in Account Authority

The best way to gain the trust of this social media platform is to post content consistently over a long period of time. If you do so, the algorithms will more probably push your clips higher in users’ feeds. Don’t get discouraged if most of your clips don’t get as many views and likes as you want because overcoming the period of poor followership is a key to future success. Not only on TikTok but any other social network.

3. Follow Up ASAP

When you see that one of your recent clips starts gaining views and likes significantly quicker than the previous ones, you have to catch the wave. This means that the algorithms have pushed your content up in the feeds. You can use this short period of boosted exposure to capture at least a small percentage of new viewers. Do your best to follow up on that successful clip to bring a part of new viewers back to your accounts once again and show algorithms that they haven’t mistaken. The result may or may not be great, but not using these rare opportunities is highly unrecommended.

4. Record Short

The TikTok community has figured out that watch time and completion rates are very important metrics for TikTok algorithms. That’s why it’s recommended to keep your clips within 10-15 seconds unless higher is justified by the type of content and its purposes. All because short videos are much more likely to be finished to the end.

5. Use The “To be Continued” Effect

You can split your most exciting clips into 2 or even 3 shorter clips to use the “to be continued” effect. Here is a quick instruction on how to do it:

  1. Come up with a viral idea that has an exciting punch in the very end.
  2. Split the story into 2-3 parts and make sure you interrupt the clips on the most exciting points.
  3. Record clips and encourage users to follow you if they want to see the next chapter.

6. Seek Cross Promotion

Do you already have followers on other social networks? Do you know other TikTik accounts that may promote you in exchange for promotion on your account, money, or something else? You can use both opportunities to either bring your loyal followers from other social media or TikTok accounts. Successful cross-promotion campaigns may help you gain more exposure and trust of other brands’ or influencers’ followers.

You can ask other TikTokers about cross-promotion opportunities directly. Smaller accounts are more likely to respond positively, while larger accounts will most likely request payment or full-sized products in exchange for promotion. The second will bring you better results too, though!

Start Early

TikTok algorithms are quite shady, but there’s no doubt that the platform “likes” initiative users much more than those who post their videos occasionally. Did you find these tips useful?
