Sony Brings PlayStation Iconic Franchises to Mobile Devices

If you have been excited to see Crash Bandicoot on your smartphones, well, get ready for more good news. It’s just the beginning: Sony really intends to bring some of its iconic games and other intellectual property to other platforms. And chances are mobile devices will come first.

The entertainment giant has already made its first steps in that direction by publishing some AAA games for PlayStation on PC. Titles released in 2020 (Predator and Horizon Zero Dawn) turned out to be successful. So, Sony is ready to continue this expansion. The release of the aforementioned Crash Bandicoot: On the Run! just shows that mobile players are ready for console heroes on smaller screens.

Reportedly, Sony has created a special department responsible for porting its console hits to iOS and Android. It is already hiring developers that can do the work within Sony. Still, it doesn’t mind collaborations and outsourcing. For example, Crash Bandicoot: On the Run! was developed and published by King, using Sony’s IP.

As for PlayStation 5, it has enough selling points to survive the loss of some exclusive titles. Its performance, exclusivity aura, and accessories availability make PlayStation still the number one console. The real threat is rise of streaming services; but diversifying platforms is Sony’s response.
