Simple Way to Add Vaccination Certificate on Android

Vaccination proof is a must-have nowadays, no matter where you go. To be able to show it right away, you have to add it to the home screen. Here is how you can do it on Android. Since last month iPhone owners received the shortcut tutorial with simple access to the vaccination data, it is only fair to learn how to do it on Android. The guide is not the substitute for the specific app with a vaccination certificate. This is only the description of the quickest way to extract the proof on your phone.

Find Your Vaccination Proof

The first thing you need to do is to receive the proof of your vaccination on the phone. The easiest way is to use the government website. Pick “Get your vaccine receipt” and follow the steps indicated by authorities. Instructions are slightly different for each state, so it is better to visit the official site and check out how to do it.

Once you find the Vaccination section, search for the download option. There will be one for sure. Read the terms of use if there are any and start the downloading process. To do it, you will need to provide your personal data with the health card number, date of birth, and a postal code. If you were vaccinated, the website redirects you to your own copy of the certificate in PDF format. The best thing is to download it on your laptop and phone. Save the copies in multiple places, and don’t forget to add them to Google Drive or other storage.

The Right App for Your Certificate

Owners of iPhones do not need to choose twice since they have a Shortcuts app. They can create an icon of the app for the quick launch. One tap, and you see your vaccination proof. However, the app does not work on Android. Android users can pick one of the most popular choices:

  • You can use the cloud storage or file management app to get the proof onto your home screen. Start with a simple Google Drive. There are Dropbox and OneDrive cloud storages that work perfectly for this purpose as well. If you use one of them, just add the proof there. Google Drive, meanwhile, may be slightly better since it links your PDF file directly to you;

  • Tasker app. This is a simple app with numerous features inside. It easily creates a shortcut. However, it is not free of charge;

  • Create a scan code of your vaccination. You can try one of the multiple online services and turn your data from vaccination into a QR code. Still, keep in mind that not all the locations have scanners, and you still need to enter the vaccination proof.

How to Make a Shortcut

Here are detailed instructions. Follow them and you will be able to extract the proof of your vaccination whenever you want:

  • Upload the PDF file with vaccination proof into the cloud storage you chose. That’s it for Google Drive;

  • If you are using Dropbox or OneDrive you have to put the PDF document in the folder;

  • Open the three-dot menu on the PDF file and pick the offline feature, so you can always open it offline too;

  • Open the home screen of your phone and press and hold it until you see the menu. Pick the Widgets there;

  • Search for your app on the list: it can be Dropbox, OneDrive, or Google Drive;

  • Now you have to press and hold the shortcut widget. Drag the icon to your home screen;

  • Select the file you need or the whole folder. Pick the PDF with your vaccination certificate or, in case of the Dropbox and OneDrive, the folder.

If you are using Google Drive, you can create shortcuts even easier. Press the three-dot menu in the file and go down until you see the ability to add this file on the home screen. Tap it and enjoy the shortcut.

Keep Your Vaccination Close

Follow the simple steps described above. Make sure that your vaccination proof is available offline. Don’t forget to save several copies of the proof in different places.
