Rockstar Games' vice president of writing leaves after 16 years

Mike Unsworth, Rockstar Games' Vice President of writing, has left the company after 16 years. He originally joined Rockstar in 2007 as a senior creative writer, before becoming a writing director in 2019 and finally serving as the vice president of writing for the last two years. Unsworth's writing contributions include Grand Theft Auto 4, Red Dead Redemption, LA Noire, Max Payne 3, Grand Theft Auto 5, and Red Dead Redemption 2. Unsworth disclosed his departure through his LinkedIn account.

On another note, BioWare has released Lukas Kristjanson, lead writer for Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, and Mary Kirby, writer of the first three Dragon Age games, amid recent downsizing. The company is laying off approximately 50 employees, representing roughly 20% of its total workforce, as it transitions to a "more agile and more focused studio". Each writer had over 20 years of service with the studio.
