Roblox has always been a universe in itself, relying mostly on IP developed by indie developers on its own platform. This starts changing. One of Roblox developers, Gamefam, joins forces with such a major publisher as Sega, bringing one of its most iconic characters, Sonic the Hedgehog, to the platform in Sonic Speed Simulator.
This simulator fully exploits the recent decision by Roblox of rebranding its “games” to “experiences”. In fact, you don’t need to compete with other players, though this mode also exists as races that start periodically. Between the races, you can just run around and collect gems and (of course) rings to level up and speed up. There are also jumps and dashes that grow more powerful as you level up, and – as you might expect – gravity-defying loops.
The game is already appreciated by Roblox users. Over 200K players already reacted to it with thumbs up, while dislikes are still under 15K. There are always enough players online for a competition. We’d recommend, though, just running around and leveling up for a bit until you gain enough speed to really compete with those more experienced.
In addition, it’s one of the best experiences on Roblox in terms of visuals. The collaboration was about more than just using Sega’s IP: the overall appearance of the game is among the most elaborate on Roblox. If not for your avatar and username, you may think it’s a standalone game, though not the most recent.
No wonder the spiked speedster outran all the other characters in making it to Roblox. In addition, Sonic now more and more appears outside Sega games. The movie dilogy became one of the best examples of moviefied games, highly rated by critics and appreciated by moviegoers.
Have you already played Sonic Speed Simulator on Roblox? How did you like it? Do you hope Roblox will feature more AAA IP any time soon? Let us know what you think down here in the comments!
