Now You Can Pay for Transit and Parking with Google Maps

Integration of Google services is accelerated by COVID-19 that still urges us to minimize face-to-face communication when not necessary. Even when you drive a lot through the country. Now you can pay your transit fares and parking costs right in Google Maps app, with Google Pay connected.

The service works due to collaboration between Google and parking providers like Park Mobile and Passport. When you approach a parking place with Google Maps active on your phone or tablet, you will see a “Pay for Parking” button. It lets you both rent a parking space and prolong your stay if necessary. All it takes is your meter number and the time you intend to stay parked. So far, Google launches it in 400+ cities in the U.S.

As for transit fares, you will be able to pay them in Google Maps in the following weeks. Unlike pay for parking feature, it will be launched both in the U.S. and in other countries, as Google is partnering with transit agencies from the whole world. It will probably let you pay easier, as Google will let you pay in your currency regardless of where you are. No more interacting with humans as you enter a toll road or park your car... so connect your Google Pay if not yet.
