HBO Max: Everything You Want to Know

HBO Max is a subscription package brought by AT&T. We’ll show you what kind of broadcasts it offers and explain its potential benefits.

What is HBO Max?

HBO Max is a standalone subscription streaming service. It delivers on-demand shows, just like its “cousins” HBO Go and HBO Now. However, HBO Max is expected to become a real flagship of the channel’s streaming family.

Interestingly, if you have an HBO Now subscription or are connected to the channel via cable/satellite, you can also access HBO Max.

What sets Max apart from other HBO streaming services, is that its show catalog is even bigger. It’s extended thanks to the films, TV series, cartoons, and other productions released by Warner Media.

Another perk of having it is that the subscribers are privileged to watch HBO Max exclusive shows. They include Adventure Time afterseries, Murders at White House Farm, charm City Kings, That Damn Michael Che, Doom Patrol, Love Life, and others.

HBO Max: Payment plan & price

HBO Max charges $15 per month with up to three devices connected to the service. As of yet, it doesn’t offer a richer system of subscription plans as Netflix does.

What’s pretty cool is that you can claim it for free if you already own HBO Now. It’s guaranteed that no hidden charges or paywalls will interfere.

If you’re curious about the offer, there’s a free 7-day trial. It’s a good catch, but it makes AT&T look tight-fisted if compared to the 30-day demo period from Amazon Prime or Netflix.

Which Shows Do You Get?

The service can boast of a rich show repertoire. The genres listed include comedy, drama, prank shows, anthology, cartoons, shows for kids, crime, historical, and so on.

Among the featured shows are :

  • The Sopranos.
  • Lord of the Rings.
  • Blade Runner 2049.
  • Tue Detective.
  • Chernobyl.
  • Pitch Perfect.
  • Impractical Jokers.
  • Courage, the Cowardly Dog.
  • The Regular Show.
  • Ten-Year-Old Tom.
  • Aqua Teen Hunger Force, and many others.

Besides, HBO Max offers a broad catalog of classic shows. They include Citizen Kane, Fresh Prince of Bel Air, A Trip to the Moon, 8 Mile, Jurassic Park, etc. There are literally hundreds of shows and their amount is going to grow.

Compatible Gadgets

Basically, streaming services are universal: with enough luck, you can make them work even on Linux and Blackberry.

But in HBO Max case, it’s compatible with a limited number of gadgets, so far:

  • Chromecast.
  • PlayStation.
  • Apple TV.
  • Xbox.

As well as desktop computers, Android and iOS. Strangely, Roku and Fire TV aren’t among the supported systems for Max. But they are expected to be on the menu, as HBO Now supports them.

Will HBO Max Replace Other Packages?

Odds are it will. It debuted back in May 2020. So far Go and Now are supported, because they have a bigger device compatibility list.

Plus, seemingly, there are contract terms that AT&T and Warner Media have to observe. But over the course of time, Max can make both obsolete, as it basically replaces HBO Now.

Getting HBO Max

If you’re already rolling with HBO Now, you can access Max without a delay — no need to change your credentials and passwords. Visit HBOMax.com and sign up for the deal there.

If you’re new to the HBO services, simply head to their page and request the subscription. You can get a taste of the service and start a one-week free trial. (You will be notified by the end of 7 days to cancel your subscription if you don’t want it yet).

Power to the Max

It seems HBO has finally decided to end the confusion with their myriad of streaming services and put all eggs into one basket — HBO Max. The deal seems to be sweet thanks to the rich show variety and a decent price of $15.
