Google's Nearby Share Now Available on Windows as Beta App

Google has finally released its AirDrop competitor, Nearby Share, as a beta app on Windows. The app allows users to easily transfer photos, documents, files, and links between Android devices and Windows PCs. Nearby Share has been in the works since CES 2022 and is now available to the public.

Nearby Share is a convenient and easy way to share files between Android and Windows devices. It only needs to be installed and configured before users can start sharing files. As of now, only Windows 10 and up are supported, with ARM-powered Windows laptops not supported yet. Users have the option to share with everyone, just their contacts, or limit the sharing to their own devices.

It's a great alternative to AirDrop, as it allows more devices to be connected and is not limited to just Apple devices. In addition, users don't need a Google account to use the app, making it more convenient for those who don't have a Google account.

Google has also added a few features to the app that make it more secure. For instance, users can now set a timeout for their shared files, limiting the amount of time a file is available to be shared. The app also includes a private mode, which makes it easier for users to keep their shared files private.
