Battlegrounds Mobile India: Our First Look

Battlegrounds Mobile India has been recently released, amid all the rumors that the game might have been long lost in the fog of time. In a rather unexpected move, Krafton granted users (who have registered as beta testers) early access to the title. Today, you can download the game on your iOS or Android device and have a blast playing it. So, is it really just PUBG Mobile with a different name? Keep reading to discover our first impressions of Battlegrounds Mobile India's Early Access build.

The Reincarnated Version of PUBG Mobile

As you probably know, hiding the fact that Battlegrounds Mobile India is based on PUBG Mobile was never Krafton’s intention. The two titles definitely offer a very similar gaming experience, along with the matching feel to them. You can even log in using your previous PUBG Mobile credentials and (our favorite part) transfer your in-game data over from PUBG Mobile! As far as we’re concerned, the similarities between the games are a good thing. The fans weren’t expecting anything less cool than PUBG Mobile.

New Game Warnings: the Indian Market Matters

The very instant you launch and set up BGMI, you’ll notice some obvious distinctions in the way Krafton goes out of its way to prevent any potential prohibitions the Indian government may impose on the game. For instance, the developers of Battlegrounds Mobile India take every chance they get to remind the players that the game takes place ‘in a virtual world’ and ‘is not a real-world based’ title.

Furthermore, now you must verify your age and are advised to take a break from the game when you get the corresponding on-screen alerts. If you analyze this overly cautious approach (along with the numerous cases of addiction among the underage PUBG Mobile players), you can doubtlessly conclude that the Indian video gaming scene is among Krafton’s highest priorities. The devs might be a tad too paranoid about the whole thing, but better safe than sorry.

Gameplay Is Top-Level

Fortunately, the new warnings are not too frequent to become overly frustrating. Concerning the other important gameplay distinction, lies the fact that the player no longer dies in a puddle of blood when they are ultimately killed in the game. Instead, they burst into tiny shreds of what may resemble green feathers (you can adjust them to become yellow once you find the necessary option in the settings).

Also, the word ‘finish’ is now used instead of ‘kill’ in Battlegrounds Mobile India (another devs’ move in the name of safety, yep). Other than these minor country-specific must-tone-down tweaks and overall cautiousness, the game remains pretty much the same as what PUBG Mobile always was. And the gameplay is as good as ever (same maps, familiar weapons, similar mechanics, and overall appeal, by the way).

Final Word: So, Is It Cool Enough?

All in all, even with the aforementioned minor changes, Battlegrounds Mobile India is PUBG Mobile’s re-embodiment. Therefore, this implies that BGMI is as good as PUBG Mobile. If you’ve always been a PUBG Mobile fan, then you’ll enjoy it in its revival version, too, even if you have to virtually burst into the ‘not-real-world-based’ green or yellow feathers from time to time.

So, have you already put BGMI through its paces? What are your first impressions? Is the game cool enough?
