Apple made many of its users quite happy last week when it announced a new handy photo transfer service. The newfangled tool allows automatically transferring your iCloud-stored images and videos to your Google Photos account with previously unseen ease and convenience.
Having gigabytes of photos and videos stored within one cloud platform can make some users feel trapped. Even though it is possible to move that wealth of digital files to another service of your choice, the process of downloading and re-uploading data is often unnecessarily complicated and lengthy.
Luckily, things are about to get a lot better, as the users of the iCloud Photos service who are determined to switch to Google Photos can now do so relatively quickly and effortlessly. Their option is to utilize Apple’s new free tool for mass-transferring photos and videos. According to the company’s support document revealed last week, the only prerequisites for transfer initiation include setting up and activating two-factor authentication on your Apple ID and making sure that your Google account has enough free space to handle the storage of all the files.
The relocation process should take three to seven days to complete. It is not super-fast but certainly a more convenient alternative to doing everything manually. Note that while it supports a wide array of formats, the service cannot transfer your Live Photos, Smart Albums, RAW photos, and photo stream content.
Are you planning to utilize Apple’s new service to mass-transfer your iCloud Photos to Google any time soon? How easy and intuitive do you find this tool to be? Tell us what you think in the comments below, and do not forget to share this post with your friends!
