Apple has finally released its highly-anticipated list of 2021’s best apps and games for the ecosystem of Apple devices, including iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac, and Apple TV. Let’s take a look at this year’s winners and Apple’s selection criteria for 2021.
The Best of the Best
Here is the list of winners:
- “Toca Life World” – best app for iPhone;
- “League of Legends: Wild Rift” – best game for iPhone;
- “LumaFusion” – best app for iPad;
- “MARVEL Future Revolution” – best game for iPad;
- “Fantasian” – top Apple Arcade title;
- “Carrot Weather” – top Apple Watch app;
- “DAZN” – best app for Apple TV;
- “Craft” – top app for Mac;
- “Myst” – best gaming title for Mac.
Besides, Apple announced the most downloaded apps and games in 9 categories. TikTok, Minecraft, Procreate, Among Us!, YouTube, and Oregon Trail took first place in all of them. Unfortunately, there were no awards for becoming the most downloaded app, but the company’s feel rewarded enough simply by the fact that they made the best products.
How Did They Choose Winners?
Typically for App Store Awards, the winners are mostly newcomers and those developers who managed to use the features of Apple devices in a creative way. All the winners received blue App Store icons made of the same recycled aluminum that is used for Apple devices with winners’ names engraved on the backside.
Connection
During the event, Apple announced that the biggest trend of the App Store in 2021 is “Connection” because the best apps of the year can have a long-lasting impact on users’ lives by letting them cooperate and compete with each other.
