Respawn confirmed that its leading franchise, Apex Legends is on its way to mobile platforms! Players from several regions will be able to test the game this spring and the worldwide premiere is supposedly scheduled for this summer.
Apex Legends + Touchscreen
Respawn Game Director Chad Grenier says that the new game is entirely redesigned to provide you with streamlined controls on the touchscreen and perform on high FPS rates. Despite that changes, the game will stay true to the origins and present an authentic experience.
Still Free?
Similar to all the versions for different platforms, the mobile Apex will be free-to-play for everyone and include purchasable battle passes and season-special items.
Unfortunately, the mobile version won’t feature crossplay, so you will be able to play only with other mobile players. Still, the release is promising and both Android and iOS will generate an immense player base in just a few weeks. Although the Nintendo Switch launch wasn’t a huge success for the franchise, mobile online gaming is much more popular with the players, so we expect the best.
Testing Schedules
The testing of the game starts this spring on Android devices. The closed tests will take place in India and the Philippines. iOS support will come only after this stage as a part of tests on larger audiences.
When to Wait?
The final release date for the game is still unknown as Respawn can’t predict the course of bug fixing during testing, but we expect the release this July-September. Are you optimistic about the mobile Apex Legends launch? What changes do you expect to see in the game? Does the franchise have the potential to repeat Call of Duty Mobile’s resounding success or it will be as lame as on Nintendo Switch?
