During the Google I/O 2021 event, the company revealed the new Android TV remote. Shortly after, last September to be precise, this feature has begun its immigration to the Google TV application. Google Home app is next on the list.
Android TV is an exclusively digital remote control. It can be used to manipulate basically any TV set operated by Android, as well as Chromecast.
The nifty app allows regulating volume, tweaking the color palette and brightness, rewinding/skipping forwards, and doing other helpful things.
The same functionality will later be added to the Home app on both Android and Apple gadgets. Interestingly, iPhone fans will be able to squeeze more out of the Home app, as they’ll be able to control Nvidia Shield, TLC, and other similar gadgets with it.
Sadly, it's unknown when the Home app with the renewed functionality will hit the virtual shelves. Google provides no commentary or deadlines. Some commentators from the web believe, however, that the launch date might be around the corner.
Among other new ideas and knows-hows, Google Meet allows you to broadcast your live conferences to the bigger TV screen.
As the company explained:
"Meet on Chromecast will let you host or join meetings, giving you the opportunity to connect with classmates, collaborate on projects, and even attend lectures."
It is possible since Google Meet is compatible with Chromecast now, as well as dongles and other Android-powered TVs. For that, open your meeting, then choose the Cast Meeting option, and in the Cast tab select your gadgets that will participate in the conference.
It seems Google strives to bring as much uniform compatibility as possible. Which of their apps could use a patch to extend their functionality, in your opinion/? Let us know n the comments!
